COMPARISON
Hotjar is a feedback suite. This is a replay tool.
Hotjar bundles heatmaps, surveys, feedback widgets, and session recordings — a breadth play for marketers and UX researchers. If you need surveys and heatmaps, Hotjar is the right category and we won't pretend otherwise. logcohort does one of those things — session replay — and goes deeper on it than a suite can.
Where the depth shows
A Hotjar recording shows you that a visitor rage-clicked. A logcohort replay also shows the POST /api/checkout 402and the console error that caused it, on the same timeline — so the friction you found becomes a bug your engineers fix, not a mystery they can't reproduce. You deep-link the exact second and send it; no account needed to watch.
What maps to what
| In Hotjar | In logcohort |
|---|---|
| Session recordings | Session replay — hardened for SPAs, iframes, shadow DOM, canvas/media |
| Rage click filters | Frustration signals: rage clicks, dead clicks, and error clicks — filterable across sessions |
| Segments & filters | Cross-session search: free text over URLs, errors, and clicked elements, plus frustration/duration filters |
| User attributes | logcohort('identify', …) — one call after sign-in; find every session of a user |
| — (no equivalent) | Console output, network requests, and errors on the replay timeline, with per-page rollups showing which URLs leak users |
What Hotjar has that we don't
- Heatmaps. None here. If heatmaps drive your decisions, keep Hotjar for them.
- Surveys & feedback widgets. Different category; we don't ask your users anything.
- Funnels. On our roadmap; not shipped. Honest status: not today.
- Native mobile app recording. logcohort records websites, including mobile web — no iOS/Android SDK.
What it costs
Free up to 1,000 sessions/month, then $29/month for 10,000 and $99 for 50,000. Every feature on every plan — nothing is gated behind a higher tier — with unlimited seats and projects. Hitting a cap pauses recording; it never creates an invoice. Full pricing.
